*****FLY FISHING HOLIDAY GIFT CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE * FLY FISHING HOLIDAY GIFT CERTIFICATES AVAILABLE*****

I would like to introduce my customers to the new Chucao Chilean Fly Fishing
Lodge, located at the mouth of the Rio Yelcho! I am excited to be representing and offering trips for customers desiring a terrific fly fishing adventure in Chile for the 2008 season as well as years to come. We offer only the finest in accommodations, food, equipment, atmosphere & comfort. This is a great place for those who want to come to Chile fly fishing and have it easy. I will still be offering road trips with my partner Nicolas Gonzalez, from the Rio Yelcho on up into the Rio Futaleufu region like in the past. This has been years in the making and now I have a lodge to offer and a fly fishing “road-trip” for your second week down into fly fishing’s final frontier…Central Patagonia Chile.

    Thank you, Jack Trout 530-926-4540

After we get off the river nice things will be awaiting….

The lodge has two chefs in addition to wonderful meals that are accompanied by warm smiles, a pisco sour and legendary desserts.

Rooms are so comfortable considering how remote this area is. Many of the roads in this region were built in 1994.

We have all the right equipment to fish you anywhere in the region.

We catch McCloud Rainbows (transplanted in the 1800’s from N. Cal). Browns, steelhead, sea-run browns and sea trout. Wow! What a great sea-run brown, must be 8lbs. Jack Trout

Nice rainbows are caught in near-by lagoonas.

The views are absolutely incredible! (In the drift boat is best though).

Nico Gonzalez with another sea-run brown.

So we hope to see you down in 2008. We have room in our lodge for groups of 2, 4 anglers from Feb 15th to March 25th, 2008. Cost for 8 days 7 nights 6 1/2 days of fly fishing is $3990.00 per person, for Saturday to Saturday (you can arrive on any day of week). Fishing on noon on the first day no fishing at the last day. $500 per extra day.
Includes all meals, open bar, transport from and to Chaiten.

1 Boat and fishing guide per every 2 anglers, lodging in double rooms with private bath.
Other services available: Hot Tub. Internet connection phone calls using prepay cards that can be purchased it at the lodge.

Check out our sites http://www.chucaolodge.cl/home.html or
    http://www.jacktrout.com/futa.html

Prices are the same as the lodge charges normally, please use me when booking your trip with the Chucao Lodge, I will be over seeing groups and have a vested interest in your dream fly fishing vacation.

    Thank you, Jack Trout. 530-926-4540

Steve and Tom, see you in December and January!!!

We saw Mike Hibbard guiding some of his customers as he netted one of their fine catches! Mike is one of the most professional guides I know, he guides all the North State Rivers Like the Trinity, Lower Sac and all the others, he can be reached at 530-247-3970. I am proud anytime I see other guides who exemplify professionalism, Mike is such a class act and a solid guide, we are lucky to have him in the North State! Some others are; George Duran (God Father 27 years!!) Bob Norman (George’s partner in a wealth of knowledge), Ernie Dennison, Scott Stratton, Bill Dickens, Steve Townzen, Ron Hart & and a few others I forget right now. I love all the animals and birds I see on the Trinity! Last week I saw a bear.. I saw Lori and Travis this past week out floating, fishing and having fun out on the Trinity River. Lori from the Straw house restaurant said she saw two king fishers drill a fox in the head while drinking water on the banks of the Trinity River near Big Bar this past week. One king fisher hit it several times in the head while the other held its nose and face underneath the water until there was no more resistance and the fox’s partner ran off in dismay. Many folks from the restaurant came outside and witnessed these two ravens in disguise, as they proved that freaks of nature can come in small packages. That was the most amazing story, but coming from the Trinity River it doesn’t surprise me, just adds to the mystique.

I wonder if the water is really cold to them?

You might get a variation in opinions between Mom & daughter….?

Mike Foster loves to float and wade, what a beautiful place.

Two years in row hooking up at this location! Gregg we see you back there…

    Gregg’s turn!

    The Trout Claw!

I would like to thank Tootsie Roll for sponsoring my anchor, Rocky Balboa! How many licks does it take? The world may never know…..? http://www.tootsie.com

Able to leap tall buildings on a single bound!

    A classic in the making!

Nice steelhead Mike! That fricking current is giving me net-wedgy, quick take the picture!!!

I love pictures from high above, it shows us another world!

    And then it really shows!

Mike you always catch so many fish with me on the Trinity River! Is it because you hung out with Mike Fong all those years? Or could it be all those articles you wrote in the most famous magazines? Say, could it be that you tie all the bugs for your trip and add a little Foster magic…? Some of the smoothest longest drifts of the season were laid out in front of our eyes! Mike Foster is “Old School” and has fished and tied with all of the best.

Wild steelhead stay in the net and are immediately released.

How is your arm socket? Rocket speeds.

Mike Foster You’re are undoubtedly, SIZZLER OF THE WEEK AWARD WINNER, CONGRATULATIONS SIZZLER!! WE’RE TALKING OVER 50 YEARS OF FLY FISHING!!! Trout

The Bald Eagle has made his come back on the Trinity River!

So many things to see in my boat, that’s what makes it so great, you never know what’s around the corner as a friend once said. Thanks for watching, Jack Trout 530-926-4540

Welcome to the premiere newsletter of the Protect Our Waters Coalition. The Protect Our Waters Coalition formed to ensure the ecological and hydrological integrity of Mount Shasta’s unique headwater areas for future generations.

We’re delighted to introduce our website, blog, monthly newsletter, and share breaking news from the McCloud Watershed Council the release of an independent economic report analyzing the costs and benefits of the proposed Nestl¨˛ water-bottling project in McCloud.

    WEBSITE www.protectourwaters.org
Our vision for the Protect Our Waters website is to share information about our most precious resource. We will showcase what we know, and what we need to know. Together we can work to gather the science and to develop policy based on science to make sure all county interests are protected.

    BLOG www.protectourwaters.org/blog
The Blog section of the website will serve as a water debate platform. The goal is to create community dialogue about our waters that brings people together. Water issues tend to be controversial, even taboo, subjects in the West. In opening dialogue about contentious issues, it is our hope that water issues will be a catalyst for bringing people together, rather than wrenching them apart. Currently the most divisive water issue in southern Siskiyou County is the proposed Nestle water bottling plant for McCloud thus the topic of our first blog.

    NEWSLETTER
The Protect Our Waters newsletter will highlight Mount Shasta’s three watersheds and build readers knowledge base through slide shows, scientific reports and data, including Mount Shasta springs data overlaid on Google Earth, and current information on upcoming water and watershed related meetings and events.

    How can you participate?

    Breaking News McCloud Ca
A new report that analyzes the long-term economic impact of the proposed Nestl¨˛ water bottling plant in McCloud, CA shows the price for water under the current contractual agreement between Nestl¨˛ and the McCloud Community Services District is far below market value and that the new plant is unlikely to create a significant net gain of long-term, permanent jobs for McCloud residents. The report was prepared on behalf of the McCloud Watershed Council by Eugene, Oregon-based ECONorthwest, an independent firm with 30 years experience specializing in economic and financial analysis of public policy.

    Hi Jack!

I just got through looking over your updated Trinity Blog. I don’t how it reached me, but I am glad it did. I loved all those pictures. I thought about stealing the one in which you are wearing the red shirt, but you are just too —– (just kidding)

I think it is a great way to attract clients and keep old ones. Good Luck with it and with the coming season. If things continue as they have it looks like we all will be in each other faces on a couple of rivers. Hopefully we will all get along, although I know it will be tough at times.

Duane Milleman ~ Redding Fly Shop

I ran into you at the Super the other day.
How much would a full day for 3 cost. Probably late June or early July.
I am an experienced fly fisher but I won’t know about the others
    until later.
    Thanks
    Steve Mitrovich

Assuming it isn’t snowing, will the fishing be OK in early January? Likely to be to cold? I will chat with Brandon to see if I can get him to commit to those dates & get back to you.

    Nick Farwell

Hi Jack – I believe that we have a fishing date set for Dec 1st?

Can you advise where we are going to meet, and when?

Also, do you have waders and boots for Kevin and myself that we can rent/use? At this point we still have not gotten around to buying any, although we certainly should.

Remember that we are looking for fly – fishing that is a bit more technical challenging than just dropping a fly over the side of a raft. Preferably something involving out of the raft and requiring casting to the fish (although we are probably not going to hit 80 foot casts).

    Regards, Bruce Bell

    Howdy Jack,
I’m interested in booking a fishing trip on Thanksgiving day. Let me know if you can help.
    Cheers,
    Ron Allen

I would like to know if you have available dates for the Trinity or Klamath rivers. I want to take a client out. Weekends are preferable, or maybe a Friday. Please let me know some dates and details.

    Sincerely,
    Kelly Meek

    Jack,

I would like to arrange a fly fishing day with you in the weeks ahead if you have time and space. Rather than interrupt you during a fishing day I will try to call you once you are off the water. My cell phone is *** *** **** if you would prefer to try to reach me first. If I don’t pick up please leave a time best to call. Thanks.

    Tight lines.

    Bob Friese

Didn’t I see that you fish the Carrileufu when you are in Argentina? Mark Buell and I are going to fish the Amazon (Rio Negro Lodge) and then are headed to Esquel to do a float trip on the Chubut for three days; then my son Glen meets me and we fish Arroyo Verde for four days. On the way from Bariloche and before we do the float, they are suggesting we fish the Carrileufu and the Rio Rivadavia and/or Rio Frey in the Naitonal Park. Do you know those venues? What’s your thought about those rivers? Any favorite places?

    C. E. Pat Patterson

I couldn’t help but see that you had a posting in March that was titled
“Season Comes to a Close”. What is the best time to come and fly fish
southern patagonia? Was thinking of coming in March, is that a bad time?

    Steve Hugo

    Jack,

Not sure if I confirmed the date of Nov 28th with you or not. I know you emailed me to meet you at the shop @ 8:00. Just wanted to make sure everything is all good. Thanks again and we will see you in a couple of weeks.

    Jeff Kaita

Jack————I would like to see about booking a trip to Argentina in late February 2008–6 days—–johnny Watts

I got your phone message. Yes, it was the most remarkable fish of my
limited fishing experience. Aaron was fabulous. He really was hurt when we
had the unexpected release. The net was simply too small. Nice problem to
    have!

My nephew Caleb took a long string of photos, but unfortunately none of the
fish. He did his best, but the fish was shy and did not cooperate. I did
get a good picture of him with a nice steelie. I have attached two
pictures, one of Caleb with his fish, and one of me and my buddy Paul when
we had about 200′ of line out on the big boy.

Thanks for a great time. I want to fish the Klamath in January, got any
dates open? It would probably be a Sunday or Monday.

I do have more pictures of the various stages of the fight with the big boy
if you would like them. I have nice images has we drift through the white
water with the fish on. The file is huge, but if you send me a snail mail
address, I could send you a CD.

    Tight Lines,
    Lee

    Lee Jester

Wow! Great pictures Jack. Thanks again, and see you on the river soon.

    Take care,
    Steve Weber

    Hi Jack,

Well, I received the email on my home computer but it somehow did not show up on the one in Oregon. I am looking forward to fishing with you again. My college room mate will join us on the 20th. His name is Jim Heick and he is a veteran fly fisherman from Mass to Alaska. I will tell Margie hi too. See you soon.

    Bob Rathborne

Jack… looks like there will be only 2 of us, my son Brandon & myself. I
looked at the weather report for Shasta area, and it says Monday should be
cloudy with sun in the afternoon. Tuesday sunny. A few Q’s…
While we may prefer to fish in sunny weather for comfort &
sightseeing purposes, it may be better for the fishing to fish in cloudy
weather. What day do you recommend we fish on Monday or Tuesday. Or does it
make little difference as long as it’s dry?
Second, if Brandon & I arrive a little earlier the nite before we
fish (Sunday or Monday, would you or someone have time to give us a little
instruction before we float the river? Or will you give us a warm up in the
    am?
Third, do you recall how long a drive it is to Shasta from SF…5
    hrs non stop?
Fourth, can you recommend a comfortable place to stay?
I will be available on my cell today or this evening after 7:30 pm
to provide CC card and discuss your recommendations. Many thx…Nick

Guys — When and where are we meeting on Thursday? I may need a map/mapquest. Let me know. John Lescroart

Jack, that would be great…Give me a call and we can chat..I will be in Reno at a meeting most of the day so lets keep trying…

    Randy Wong

    Jack,
can I get a guide for Nov. 19th (Mon.) for the
    Klamath? Eric Swinderman

Thanks for a great time Jack.

“I did not know fish could get that big! I’ve fished the Colorado, Roaring Fork and Frying Pan in Colorado, the Madison, Yellowstone and Gallatin in Montana, even the Snake in Idaho, but the best fishin’ I’ve ever had was on the Trinity River pulling out Steelhead and Salmon with Jack Trout !”
    Thanks again,
    Steve Weber

    Jack,
I watch your blog and I think you’ve finally sparked my interest. Steelhead in January? What do you have available? I might make a short trip in January or February from Houston if have some part of a weekend available.

    David Lemke

Happy Holidays, Jack. How’s life? Slight chance I might be able to get away for some steelheading in January. You all booked up?

    Joseph C. Euphrat

    Jack

How the hell is it going?

Ken DelMonte sent me the article that was in the SF Chronicle on November 18th. Now that you are royalty and guide for newspaper columnists and authors can we still fish with you? Were not worthy, were not worthyΣ but please say it isn¡Ùt so.

All kidding aside, it was a great article and I hope it brings you a ton of business. If anyone deserves it, it¡Ùs you Jack.

So, when does the steelhead fishing end on the Trinity River? If I can get Ken off his big butt (don¡Ùt tell him I said that) I would like to venture up there. I would imagine that it will start getting real cold soon.

    Frank Balog
