This has been such an amazing year, on June 16th it snowed on Mt Shasta! We do expect heat in the coming days, but pack for the four seasons, any kind of weather could happen this year!
Fossil found on the Upper Sac:
I found this fossil rock on the Upper Sac around Pollard this past week launching my raft!

Respect April Falls:
April Falls is becoming more and more dangerous as the water level lowers. Going down the middle is not an option I consider. I like to go river left just before the thumb rock and cut in around the hole. Respect April Falls people!
Gary Cummings USAC:
Gary Cummings and Bob McEwan came a calling again. Remember their adventures from Chile in 2005? On this day fly fishing with nymphs was a little spotty, so half way down I decided to put on an E.C. Caddis size 14 and try our luck on the surface.
Gary Cummings USAC2:
Gary & Bob got hook-ups right away! We couldn't keep the trout off and catching them out of the raft was the best part. Gary hooked a nice trout near McCardle Flats, and we had to go through "Rino Head" like that movie scene with Brad Pitt, in the; A River Runs Through It. Gary did keep his hat on though!
Gary Cummings USAC3:
This one was a real fighter, but Gary kept his tip up and directed him to safety
Gary Cummings USAC4:
Finally down to the pool where we could land the little festival goer!
Gary Cummings USAC5:
Nice Trout Gary! Isn't it always great to catch trout on dry flies!! See you in the Fall, jt
Bob McEwan USAC:
Bob also hooked many trout on dry flies, but non better than this one...
Bob McEwan USAC Lunker!:

Lake Siskiyou 2006:
More than ever I love to go down to Lake Siskiyou and hang out on the shore, and swim its clean waters. Everywhere you look is a million dollar view! (don't build on it please)!
Lake Siskiyou come sail away!:
Come sail away! Lake Siskiyou is a great place to view the 4th of July fireworks, just be sure to have a red and green light in front, and a white light in the back of your boat. Be careful with fires by getting a permit at the Mt Shasta Forest Service Office 530-926-4511. Have a shovel and a bucket for water, in an approved pit with rocks around the pit. USFS has info on roads that might still be snowed in. Please buy cans, not bottles, near lakes and rivers. Pack in - Pack out! KEEP THE MT SHASTA AREA CLEAN, IT'S HERE FOR ALL OF US!

EMAILS FROM YOU:

Jack

Our trip last week on the Upper Sac was terrific! Rafting the river with a first class navigator was exciting; worth the "price of admission"! Your call to switch to dry flies during the float was timely, with many, many hookups with quality fish. All together, a truly memorable day with Jack Trout!

Gary Cummings
