**MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE, ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAYS!** Christmas Week 2004: The holiday season is here, time to see family and maybe visit areas you haven't been in a long time? Many of you are coming to Mt Shasta to spend the holidays, and we welcome you! The ski park is open, and from what I hear we're supposed to receive a storm this week. Be sure to watch out for black ice when driving in the shaded areas around our neck of the woods, and be ready for any kind of weather. Tres and Janet on the Cochamo: Tres and Janet Wiley went down to visit Chile this past week and hung out with my guide Francisco on the Rio Cochamo, Petrohue, and Maullin Rivers, all located down and around the Puerto Montt area known as the 10th region of Chile. This picture was taken on the Rio Cochamo, one of the most scenic places in the world. Tres on the Rio Maullin: The day Janet and Tres had on the Rio Maullin (pronounced moo-jean) was one to remember. Not only did they experience nice sized, hard-fighting brown trout and Atlantic salmon, but they had a great, knowledgeable guide on his home river! Tres commented to me on the phone after his delightful day that just the sounds alone of all the birds that inhabiting the mango-lined banks were like drifting to music. The Maullin is like a river you would see in the Florida tropics, except this key river sports great fresh water fishing for trout and salmon! Way to go Francisco!!! Southern Guide Extraordinaire!! Wiley Salmon: Tres with an Atlantic Salmon caught on a Pancora imitation. This Pancora (pronounced Pan-Cooda) is like a crayfish that met up one night with a huge Stone Fly. They had wonderful children together and live happily ever after......Notice how cromer these fish are, what a prize! Flies M: These are effective flies Francisco ties for the Rio Maullin. One of the things I've always been impressed with Francisco is that, he always seems to have the right fly in any situation. He ties almost all of his flies himself, (No Umpqua in Chile) and he is the utmost professional when guiding my customers. Thanks Francisco, you're a model guide in any country! jt Tres 2 dec 2004: This was Tres's second Atlantic Salmon that day! In all Francisco reported that there were over 50 hook-ups and catches in 5 days of fishing, and two salmon. Tres and Janet said that they were very happy with their trip, and would recommend my Chilean Fly Fishing Trip to anyone! I love those kind of calls, those are the ones I jump up and down from when I get off the phone!! Janet Wiley on bridge: Janet crossing a walk bridge on a creek near the Rio Cochamo. Janet Wiley, YOU'RE MY SIZZLER OF THE WEEK AWARD WINNER! CONGRATULATIONS SIZZLER! GLAD YOU HAD A BALL IN FLY FISHING'S FINAL FRONTIER....JT Did I tell all of you out there that before Tres and Janet flew down to see Francisco in Puerto Montt, they took a wine tour outside of Santiago?! This is a good way to break up the trip and let the jet lag wear off. Greg W fish on!: Greg Willem came to visit this past week and try his green thumb on the cork of his fly rod. See, Greg's a blueberry farmer, and years ago his friends laughed at him when they all went into grapes... Little did his friends know that everyone at the same time went into grapes, leaving Greg and his blueberries to prosper. I love blueberries, I buy them at the Berryvale Market in Mt Shasta, and put them on my Cream-O-Wheat every morning for breakfast. I eat blueberry Pop-Tarts, I love blueberry pie, and I agree with Greg, blueberries are so cool! I haven't ever heard anyone saying, "When I grow up, I want to be a blueberry farmer?" Greg is like the Bubba Gump of blueberries, and this is his story, Sizzlers! Greg's Blue Butter: Greg landed this beauty and was demonstrating at the same time that his thumb wasn't green. From all the years of hand selecting the best blueberries for you and me, his hands have become very slick. This is very common with blueberry farmers! What a great picture!! jt Greg's lunker: Then Greg hooked into this absolute monster and had a feeling of total zen as he related it to our annual Blueberry and Blue Grass Festival we have annually here in Mt Shasta on Labor Day Weekend. Greg had such a fantastic day that he just called me and said he wants to go to Chile this season! Great Greg, we'd love to have ya! "Did you hear that Francisco?" He'll be coming down with Bob Quillin, Feb 24th to March 4th 2005. New Willie Boat!: My new Willie Boat being built as I write this! I will have a newborn as of 2005, can you help me name her? I will be giving away a FREE guide trip to the one who chooses the right name for my new Willie Boat.... Remember, my raft was named, DOGONIT! A great name, chosen by you, the audience. Email me at info@jacktrout.com. Check out Willie Boats at www.willieboats.com. They have great Osama Bin Ladin jokes list on the top banner, it's hilarious!! Check it out. release the trout: So we release you now back to whatever you're really supposed to be doing. Thank you very much for reading my web logs and keeping in touch. I hope to see you before I leave for Chile, I know January will be a great fishing month on and around the place I call home. Lunch on the Maullin: Lunch time on the Maullin with Francisco on the right and Nicolaus in the middle. Always accompanied by a bottle of great Chilean Wine, **HOPE YOU LIKED THAT ADVENTURE!
