**SALMON AND STONE FLY HATCHES ARE HERE SIZZLERS!!**
Howdy friends, how goes it? What a great time of year we're embarking on, with hatches getting better and better every week until we start to see it only early and late, with the coming of the dog days of Summer. So there's no better time than now until July 21st to get amongst them! Clean up that garage, get that gear ready, get a spouse pass to leave campus and of course, tie up some bugs and get on a river. Now is what you have dreamed all Winter about and the river is your freedom is only a cast away partner, for it's not the catch that brings us joy, but the places it takes us in our lifetime! jt
This is a story of a man named Garrett Boutin, a worldly man,
who has fished in every nook and cranny in the world, like a Thomas's English Muffin! What a distinct pleasure it is, to fish with such an accomplished angler like Garrett. The best part also, is that it was just He, me and Shasta in the Dawgonit raft.
I like beginners don't get me wrong, look at the Oakland A's and what they have done with their Farm Team. It demostrates what can happen to a franchise with good coaching, and I like to think of our company in the same light. But on this day the retying of knots was nil, and this was another day to be placed in the archives of history, as our journey down the 9 mile stretch of river that was once named, Buena Ventura by Jedidiah Smith 1826 was now known as the Upper Sacramento River....
Garrett then caught this big trout that barely fit between his hands!!! He was lucky he was wearing his Jack Trout Hat, he might have not got this one in....
Later that day we switched to an Adams size 14 dry fly and Garrett caught this sweet Rainbow that gave us quite a battle! Shasta the Trout Dog was impressed!
After the adventure we headed to my favorite new restaurant, the Salt Water Cafe in Dunsmuir. This place rocks, with the best coconut shrimp I've ever tasted Sizzlers, and the beef wellington was as fabulous as the fab four from England... Check this place out in Dunsmuir at 5740 Dunsmuir Ave, across from the California Theatre. 530-235-4988 Norman and Jackie will greet you personally. The food was so good Garrett had to call his wife to get a spouse pass for the next trip..... She told him she's coming next trip!
Meanwhile, over on the Klamath the Salmon and Stone Flys are starting to appear! The birds seen here, two Canadian Geese, two Pelicans and one lonely Green Heron fish for lunch like
a scene out of ones imagination of what life should be like
in a perfect world....
Back on the Sac with my good buddies Chris and Grant ready for action on a day that looked promising and turned out even better!....
Right out of the gate we hooked up on three trout and one that pulled Grant and the Dawgonit all over the river! Grant just giggled and played the trout like a good song in your head that contributes to your day....
Grant landed this little woppy and we released it un-a-floppy!....in other words, we released it unharmed Sizzlers!!!
Then we dropped into the stretch above Slate Creek and Chris
hooked into this gorgeous Upper Sac Trout that not only took us for a ride, but also checked in with bodacious tah tahs and looked to me to be Slim, Trim and Suspicious. This trout was a 20"er and was the most beautiful Upper Sac Trout I've ever seen.... Chris Leivas you're my SIZZLER OF THE WEEK AWARD WINNER!!! CONGRATULATIONS SIZZLER!!
Chris then waded this other area and caught a big Sacramento Squaw fish. We didn't show the picture due to the audience's
and their soft pallets. Those fish remind me of something that Chuckie Doll got a hold of......
And towards the second half of the day I saw my friends from Mt Shasta and all was completed! It was a marvelous week with lots of surprises and adventures, great scenes and memorable experiences with people, animals and nature. **
TAKE CARE SIZZLERS AND AS MY POPS WOULD SAY, "GET OUT AND GET AMONGST THEM!" MANY RIVERS TO YOU, JACK TROUT**
