**BACK HOME KLAMATH, LOWER SAC AND HENDERSON SPRGS ON FIRE**
It was great to come home to all the fantastic weather, no sooner did I get my bags unpacked, the phone rang from a customer we had met at the San Mateo Show, named Chuck Persyn. He wanted to fish the Klamath with his daughter Yvonne, the week of March 20th. The water was high, off color, but I just had this gut feeling the fish were there...
Yvonne caught 5 or 6 Steelies, and had several others on the hook. It's a fact, these sea trout bite faster than a mosquito up at Eagle Lake. Yvonne, loved being out on the water with dad, and plans to return annually from Houston Texas, to out catch dad and have him buy the dinner wine. Chuck, thanks for dinner at Casa Ramos, hope see you over the Summer. JT
Marty had cabin fever bad... He was in dire need of a Jack Trout Adventure! He was so distraught, he came up to Mt Shasta on a whim, without confirming and called us one morning at 7:30am for guiding, during the after math of the
storms that hit us hard in February. It wasn't Marty's fault, he had the shakes, he needed the fly fishing, and he needed it now! He often thought on his way up, how he had been trying to catch an adult steelhead since he was 17 years old.... ( Burgess Meredith, "Can you catch the chicken, ROCKY!") So it was on this trip, on March 21st, 2004
that Marty had the time of his life, landing 9 Steelhead, and one that he will always remember... Yo Adrian!!!
Marty nice Steelhead!! That's what we call a downer, it's heading back down to the ocean, it's all spawned out...
The fish ripped out line until we saw the backing line appear, no sooner would ease up and head up towards us, it would then switch back, head back into the current and take Marty for a long awaited ride, he was giddy! We finally landed the missile, 500 yards down river from where we launched from. Marty looked up at me, as we gently took it from the net, and he said with a gleam in his eye, " you know how long I've been waiting for this!!!"
Marty way to go! You're my, SIZZLER OF THE WEEK !! CONGRATULATIONS SIZZLER!!! 24" ER 6 LBS!!!!! YOU'RE CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!!
Meanwhile, on the Lower Sac, the caddis are starting to appear like they do every Spring. The water is clean and without a doubt it's the best time of year to visit the Lower Sac for it's abundance of healthy wild native trout, that grow to enormous proportions. Plus, the weather is pleasant this time of year, and right now the deciduous trees and flowers are blooming, and you don't bake your brains for lunch....jt
You remember Gene Weber, he's one of my best customers and we always have a grand time out on the water together. On this day Gene, brought his friend Alec from Menlo Park. Gene, enjoyed the quality trout we hooked into and landed last week on the Lower Sac. We were mainly using small caddis patterns, micro mayflies and an assortment of odds and ins....But Small... or just call 530-926-4540 we guide you glide... jt and the guide posse
Alec had this trout take him into his backing!!! This was one hot fish! Alec did well, as he landed the trout after
jumping out of the boat near this shallow island.
Alec is friends with one of our most colorful past customers Nulson Smith (Former Sizzler of the Week!). In fact, they grew up together... It always amazes me how small the fly fishing world really is...
Nice fish Alec, Hello Nulson! JT
Then Alec hooked into this lovely creature, that reminded me
of the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel, lots of casino colors!!
Alec take care nice fishing with you and Gene!! JT
The day before Gene, I Had Paul Mayes, and his future son in law, Cody.
Paul had a great morning, then the hatch was so prolific,
that the trout got full and didn't eat much more after 3pm..
It was a fine day out, with perfect weather to boot!**HOPE YOU ENJOYED THAT GREAT WEEK OF GUIDING ADVENTURES BACK HOME IN MY OWN BACK YARD!!** MANY RIVERS TO YOU, JACK TROUT **SPECIAL NOTE HENDERSON SPRINGS IS AVAILABLE WEEKEND OF APRIL 16TH, MAIN HOUSE ALSO** CALL 530-337-6917
