What could be better than guiding the Mc Cloud River in September! The weather is changing fast and Fall is already upon us. Look for October like fishing in late September, it's like were a month ahead on weather. Dry fly fishing has been starting around 1pm on the Upper Mc Cloud and lasting until 5pm and the lower section turns on about 3pm. Use Lt. Cahills size 14 and adams size 14 for best success. The hot nymph seems to be the Z Wing caddis size 14. Good Luck and happy fishing this Fall! From Jack Trout and the guides at Jack Trout Fly Fishing.

Many know me as the owner and guide for Jack Trout Fly Fishing, but I also have some of the best guides in the west who work for me. One of my top guides is Jim Roberts, an accomplished guide who has been on the water guiding for 6 years and has been fly fishing for over 15 years. Jim and Larry had their hands full when this lovely McCloud Rainbow bit the fly!

Way to go Jim and Larry!! This hard fighting rainbow was finally landed 100 yards down stream from where it was caught. Jim Roberts your my Sizzler of the Week!!
Just a nice scene fishing the Mc Cloud River in September 2003.

I came across this Rattle Snake on the McCloud River this past week and got this nice close up!

On the way back from visiting my Father in Portola I stopped at Hat Creek to get Shasta a drink of water. What a great spot to visit, Shasta agrees!
I'm such a dork! I still get this excited after 11 years of guding, I love my job Sizzlers can't you tell?? JT

Back on the Upper Sac, I left Victor for a while to spend time with his son. When I returned Victor said he had just lost a bigger trout! When I asked him how big it was he just threw up his hands and said the trout had won this time!!!

Fishing riffles on the Klamath can be so affective for catching Steelhead Trout, call us for any information for this Fall! 530-926-4540 jack trout

This Oregon Duck caught this bright hard fighting Steelhead this past week on the Klamath River!! By the way Oregon beat Michigan this past week also, thats what I call a Win/ Win!!

Guide Jim Roberts and Ed frink pulled up to this great edge on their float on the Klamath River. It didn't take too long for Ed to have his Steelhead take his Stone Fly! Jim waited patiently for the opportunity to net the wild beast...

And in the end all is good! A day with Jim Roberts is always a successful one, heck! A day with any of my guides is a success. We look forward to hearing from you. From all the guides here, happy trails my friends! Jack Trout* See you next week from the Trinity and Lower Klamath!!
