Up on Mt Shasta wild flowers are still appearing like it's the middle of Spring. Even here at 8000 feet Wild Mountain Lupin show off their wonderful colors with Silver Tipped White Pines looking on in admiration.
Mr. Otter welcoming the annual arrival of the Steelhead and Salmon into the Klamath River for the 2003, 2004 season.
Doug Helm and his son Carter joined me this past week for a three day fly fishing adventure which included the Klamath, Upper Sac and Mccloud Rivers.
Doug landed this nice dark Steelhead Trout on the Klamath River and later a caught a bunch more!! He really enjoyed his time out on the river with his fly rod and his son Carter.
On the Upper Sac fishing was a little slower but we managed to have a successful evening in spite of the warm temps and lethargic feeding trout. Dad was happy that his son Carter was learning how to fly fish and hooked a nice one on the Upper Sac! jt
Meanwhile, back on the Klamath. Guide Mike Hibbard and his
customer Mikie Nichols hooked up on several Steelhead! This was Mike's first experience fly fishing and boy did he have a good time. He decided to go out for another day on the Klamath River the next day. Mike Hibbard is looking forward to guiding you this Fall on the Trinity and Lower Sac, give me a call at 530-926-4540 to book him.jt
Carter here at Lower Falls on the McCloud River had a great time hooking up on his first series of trout on a fly rod.
Later that week Cater returned with a friend to camp out along the Mccloud River and practice what he learned with me.
Luke Alexander enjoyed his evening of dry fly fishing on the Upper Sac! The Lt. Cahill size 16 was the ticket and Luke had many hookups right in front of where he was casting his fly.
Luke Alexander is now enjoying the Winter in Australia, I wonder if he brought his fly rod? There are McCloud River Rainbows in Tasmania!!! Head north Luke, " and may the force be with you Luke"!
The Rogue River is fishing great right now! I caught 4 Steelhead my first night fishing above the town of Shady Cove. Prince Nymphs seem to be what they were looking for, these are hard fighting Steelhead that just don't want to come in for noth'n! I hooked into something that was huge! It broke me off like Orca, and laughed on the way.
Back on the Upper McCloud life is great! The Trautman group had a great time out and about. Thanks Bill had a great time with you and the boys..jt
