The McCloud River what a site! The river is in great condition and hatches are occuring daily from 11am to 2pm, try a Light Cahill size 16 or a size 16 Humpy and tell me how you do. Thank you for all your emails I enjoy this site also, and even got up at 4:30am today to bring it to you! Two weeks and we're into the Stone Fly hacthes. jt
Here's Gene Stockwell dry fly fishing on the Lower McCloud! We had to fish below Hawkins Creek cause PG&E isnot releasing enough water out of the McCloud Dam. I think PG & E is diverting all the water to Pit River so they can get all the money they can out of our resources. I've called them twice now on this issue but they are not releasing any more water to the fish and the fishermen (only what their required which isn't enough). It's sad state of affairs when big organizations do that to the enviroment, have you seen below the dam lately? I'll show you next
time..... On this day below Hawkins Creek Gene hooked up!
A nice trout released to fight another day!
Iris Chaparral on the Mccloud with wild Ginger in the background and a raspberry plant is a great site on a guide trip!
Back to the Upper Sac the water is getting lower and more fishable everyday! On this day we took the raft to many ideal gravel bars to fish areas that no one can access by foot. Dennis Pegones caught a nice 17"'er here, in Pollard Canyon.
Nice trout Dennis! Your my Sizzler of the Week! Dennis is from Alameda and both his son's are in university at Oregon and Arizona.
"Mike and Steve, Dad had a great day on the Upper Sac, see you to next month!" jt
Here's the other guy on the boat Sean Maher, you remember the past customer who caught all those Steelhead on the Klamath last Fall.
Catching a trout when were drifting is got to be the best! Sean sure thought so, we got the trout in just in time to go through a huge rapid....
Larry hooked two 19'"ers here that jumped and fought hard, we're down on the opposite side here at McCardle Flats area on the Upper Sac.
Larry caught this nice 16'"er up near Pollard on a gravel drop off.
We mainly used a Dark Lord pattern size 14 to catch these lovely Upper Sac trout. Not much of a hatch on this day, but we caught many on nymphs in spite of the breezy wind.
The Silvery Lupin are in full bloom now get out to the rivers to find your favorite wild plant or flower!!! **HOPE YOU LIKE THAT STORY, NEXT WEEK OUT ON THE UPPER SAC WITH TOM STIENSTRA, S.F. CHRONICAL STAY TUNE FOR THAT ADVENTURE!**
