I called my guide Steven Bertrand and grabbed local celebrity Doug York and we headed down the mighty river! Here we are in front of Bottoms Out Rapid, hope to see you this May and June out in my raft. I'm excited about this Spring and I'm so glad to be back home in the good ole US of A! Upper Sac Doug York: Doug York local cable channel host and is halarious to hang out with! This was Doug's first time down the Sacramento River in a raft and he said he enjoyed it immensely. It's hard to tell by his expression, he looks like a little kid!!! He commented several times on the overwhelming scenic beauty, and would like to go down again soon. Thanks Doug for lots of laughs and jokes, your my Sizzler of the Week!!! Upper Sac Bald Eagle April 2003: As we were heading down the river near La Moine a huge Bald Eagle flew out in front of the boat and landed on this tree. It was so incredible, it was as though this great soaring bird signified our true freedom we were experiencing, and I felt good again to be back home in Siskiyou County. Nose me Mayfly: When we stopped one time to get out and stretch the legs this Green Drake Mayfly landed on my nose. "imagine if this happen during the open fishing season, the customer ask's me what to use, it's right under my nose, or on top!" Conditions will be great this year for rafting the Upper Sac, I anticipate rafting trips until the middle of June now due to recent storms. Frog Lake Henderson Springs: Frog Lake is a great place to go before the rivers open on April 26th, 2003. I brought my past customer of 7 years Carol Robb to Henderson Springs, a private place we offer fly fishing and lodging at near the Pit River. It was a beautiful day with light wind and sprinkle's at times, but the day proved to be rewarding and the conversations with Carol are always fun. Frog Lake Henderson Springs Carol: This huge lunker was caught on a small size 18 flashback PT. Thats Small! This gorgeous trout weighs in at about 7lbs I figure and it's the biggest trout that Carol's ever caught on her fly rod!! Howard and Penny Weaver: Penny and Howard Weaver from Michigan visited our area the first week of April and my Scenic Tour Guide Robin Kohn led them on an area tour. One of the locations she took them to was Bunny Flats, where they took some great pics of Mt Shasta! Thanks Penny and Howard hope to see you back here again, Fall is awesome. jt and Robin Metal Steer of Freedom near Yreka: I was driving up to White city Oregon the otherday to pick up my new rafting trailer and saw the Metal Steer with an American Flag on him. I once again knew I was home and I felt good about life and what Mt Shasta has to offer. This Steer is located about 4 miles south of the town of Yreka. Guides having fun at recent party: My guides at a recent party having fun and talking about the upcoming season! Bottoms Out Dude!: So I leave you with a parting shot of Bottoms Out Rapid on the Upper Sacramento River, One of my favorite places to be in the world.**OK SIZZLERS 10 DAYS AND ALL THE RIVERS ARE OPEN AND WE'RE ALL OVER THE PLACE WITH STORIES AND MORE ADVENTURES, STAY TUNED AS I REPORT NEXT WEEK ON ALL THE RIVERS WITH PICTURES OF RIVER LEVELS AND OPENING DAY INFO** JACK TROUT
