Being on top of the Volcano Villarricca is like being on top of the world! You could see as many as six other volcanos up there and the view of Pucon and all the other lakes and rivers was very rewarding.
I'm so glad I did this, I hope to climb more mountains this Summer and share it with you. jt
Matt and Uschi enjoyed their time together up on the mighty volcano, they taught me a lot on this climb and I was deeply grateful for all their knowledge and expertise.
Glissading back down the volcano was some of the best fun I've had!
You could really gain some speed down the steep mountain terrain.
You use your ice axe as the break and you get air on some of the bumps! It's a great way to get back down fast and you don't expand
very much energy, in fact you kick back and relax. I enjoyed listening to Lenny Kravitz as I glassaded down the frozen tundra!
Back at the Rio Petrohue in the 10th region of Chile, Daniel and guide Francisco see trout rising along a logjam, Daniel makes a perfect cast and BAM!
What a nice healthy trout! This can make your day if you know what I mean. Daniel stopped and thanked everyone just for being there to experience all this with him. The views were so incredible the day we floated the Petrohue, I will never forget the spectacular adventure we had.
Our day we had on the Rio Licura was a marvelous one, We stopped at this grassy bank and our guide Eduardo prepared this lovely BBQ feast! Daniel and I waited patiently talking about all kinds of things regarding fishing, rods, casting, places he fished, places I've fished. (he fished 25 times more places then me.) I always like
yacking with Daniel he's a book knowledge, on just about any subject.
Guide Eduardo preparing an asado BBQ, just out in the open grass lands in Chile. We had an excellent meal as well as delicious wine and desert! Daniel and I were so content with lunch we both fought hard not to have a cat nap, We got done and got back out amongst them!
Along the side of the river as we drifted down was a local rancher and his ox. These are good people for the guide to know just in case you get stuck lauching or retrieving the boat, the ox can help pull you out! Haven't you heard the saying, "strong as a ox"!
This was our view most of the time floating the Rio Licura, you can see Villarricca in the background.
The first night Matt and Uschi arrived Ana Maria and I invited them to a local pub restaurant called the Mamma's and Tappa's, good beer
music and tacos, of course the best part was good friends!
(I guess the pub was called Mamma's and Pappa's, but was asked to change name because of copy rights?)Big beers for about $1.25US make me a happy camper!! I love that place, I wish we had that place here in Mt Shasta!!!
**HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY FINAL REPORT FROM CHILE, I'M BACK IN MT SHASTA NOW GETTING READY FOR OUR BIG FLY FISHING AND TOUR SEASON!
MANY RIVERS TO YOU, JACK TROUT AND ANA MARIA
