Wednesday, December 25th, 2002**MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!**
A quiet Mt Shasta is what you find on Christmas Day 2002. This is our new clock with a view of downtown and Black Butte in the background. TO ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS 2003.jt
Shasta kinda taking easy on this holiday week! The weather is cold now, always in the 30's when we launch the drift boat on the Klamath River. I have heaters, but by 11am things warm up to the low 40's and we survive the day. It's a amazing how many B.T.U's get generated when a big fish is on no matter what the temps are! Shasta has her fur coat and stays bundled up on the bow, happy and content.
We saved these next few shots for Christmas/New YEARS WEEK, to announce that BRIAN PEARCE OF DANVILLE IS OUR "SIZZLER OF THE YEAR 2002 AWARD WINNER!!!!!!!" This English guy is a hoot! it's like fishing with Robin Hood, you know the English accent and all that stuff. All those funny words that English people use to describe everyday things, really crack me up! What a great day we had on October 24th
so many hook ups, laughs, sh... and giggles. WAY TO GO BRIAN, SEE YOU IN THE SPRING FOR UPPER SAC RAFT'N!
Brian hooked over 30 that day but this was the biggest, a 25lb+ Salmon. For a 10 day period the Salmon were taking flies, then it just stoppped. This Salmon put up a great fight and we were lucky to have caught it in slow water.
Here's another great catch that Brian had, what a cromer! This one blew his reel up, and I heard words when he was fighting this beast that I never knew existed in the English language.
This shot was taken on Monday, December 23rd, 2002 at 7:34 am. It's nice to see the lady back in her white dress. All is great again in Mt Shasta, it looks like we might get a normal Winter after all!!
All my friends are so happy skiing away at the Mt Shasta Board and Ski Park and plenty of holiday cheer has been going around the Mt Shasta area as usual.
Sam Agnew home for the Holidays from the University of Colorado.
The Colorado Buffalos, This crazy nut loves to fish by the light of a full moon on a secret river in Colorado. He says, temps drop into the low 20's and below, just layer up and suck it up!! One night this guy caught 15 trout between 1am and 5am! I guess thats why guys like me head South for the Winter.jt
Max Sam's younger brother attends the University of Oregon, The Oregon Ducks. So there I was with a dog, a buffalo and duck in my boat and the duck brought in this nice catch! Way to go Max on a tougher than usual day out there. I think it was all that sun, I've been getting more hook ups on the cloudier, over cast days. They seem to be warmer too, the clear sky days are much colder over night and in the morning. This makes the fish more lethargic in the morning until it warms up a little.
Downtown Mt Shasta on Christmas Day 2002, Hope all is grand for you my friends. Merry Christmas!!!!**HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE, MY NEXT REPORT WILL COME FROM CHILE!!!! STAY TUNED** JACK TROUT
