October tours in Siskiyou & Shasta Counties can be some of the most
scenic of the year! The CRS Travelers Club of Hayward sure thought so. They got to see Lower Falls on the McCloud River, views of the Trinity Alps from 8000 feet on Mt Shasta. I know they loved the town of McCloud and the Sugar Pine Candy store and the historical museum are all great places to visit. Hope to see you folks back in Spring you were great fun. Jack Trout
Back to the Klamath things are starting to heat up! Lots of these gorgeous cromer steelies making there way up the system from the ocean. I might add that most of them are wild no clipped fins, Tony seen here in the picture looks a little getty, he should be he caught over 25 Steelhead, Salmon and Trout. Like always all on the fly!
Tony's partner is Ken he's kinda of a character! he too caught a lot of fish and enjoyed what the Klamath offers.
We were just drifting along minding our own business when this 13lb. MONSTER Salmon hit and the fight was on for over 20 minutes. Tony brought this Salmon in on a 6 weight fly rod! Not easy to do.....
Way to go Tony your my "Sizzler of the Week" award winner.
After a long but oh so rewarding day of fishing we headed to my favorite restaurant on the face of the earth, Maddalena's Cafe in Dunsmuir, (530) 235-2725. Ken bought our dinners and we were thankful, we were hungry! Thanks Ken.... the food at this place is so good don't make the mistake of showing up without a reservation, you might not get in. Maddy is from Sardina, Italy and prepares her
Mediterrean Italian food with the freshes ingredients and her knowledge of "Old World Recipes!" People come from all over the world to eat at this place and we are so fortunate to have World Class Cuisine in Dunsmuir. Thanks to all the people who make Maddalena's the best food in the North State! That includes Marin.
The next day we met up at the Black Bear Diner in Mt Shasta, located at 401 Lake Street. They feed you like a hungry bear!
I thought if my customers are well fed they can handle pulling in these huge Jurassic fish were catching! Tony had plenty of energy to bring in this healthy Steelhead.
Tony had a very memorable two days on the Klamath River. Hope to see
you again December it can even get better.....
Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better Tony hooks into this 20LB. + King Salmon. The biggest fish ever brought into my boat! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think we should start fishing with 8 weight fly rods.
Made it to the World Series with my two brothers Pete and Tim and my nephew Chris. We lost the series but the SF Giants will always remain tops with me, and to experience this with my family will not soon be forgotten, Love you guys, Jack
Barry Bonds seen here hitting a home run at Pac Bell Park for the 2002 World Series, He hit 8 for a new world series record.**WELL FOLKS HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS WEEKS ADVENTURES, UNTIL NEXT TIME ENJOY OUR FALL COLORS!** JACK TROUT
