Saturday, June 29th, 2002**JULY 4TH WEEKEND DON'T MISS IT!**
"Another week in paradise", says Shasta. The weather here in Mt Shasta
has been mild to say the least, I've been enjoying all the high clouds and overcast days. The temps have been in the mid 80's in the daytime and 50's at night. Perfect weather to camp out in, just watch those camp fires and get a fire permit from Mt Shasta Ranger District, 530-926-4511. Manny will most likely answer the phone and
you can purchase a Shasta Trinity Forest Map of our area, THERE SO COOL! This 4th of July be safe, we have a very dry forest this year.
Mt Shasta Vistors Bureau is 530-926-4865 for 4th of July event information.
This is a tale about a bunch of friends who all played soccer together and when it came time to take a break from it all, they decided to go fly fishing. Here's John and Harrison, John's being the guide in this shot helping an ole' chap land a trout. Harrison
doing all he can to catch up to this hydro dynamic trout! a couple of jumps from the trout and John eases the trout into the net taking out the fly and releasing this trout for another day.
Friends out enjoying the outdoors together. The annual Boys weekend out couldn't been better, we all had a blast! The fishing was fantastic especially the dry fly action with Stonefly imatations, like Stimulators bringing up trout to the surface. I think it's always amazing that even though you don't see them rising for the natural Stoneflys they'll take the imitation if you drift it through the riffle a few times. My saying is, "drift a fly 5 times and you've created a new hatch".
Nice trout Mac! I've been guiding Mac now for 4 years and I must say he has become quite the fly fishing extraodinaire. He caught over 15 trout in a four hour period and made every cast count. Way to go Mac, look forward to seeing you in Patagonia, Chile! This kid is tops, We always have great luck together fly fishing and the jokes never stop. Meanwhile, Shasta keeps looking for other rising trout, she's a working dog!
Hold on Archie! This kid is halarious talking away, half not paying attention then blam! This trout takes his fly and I just so happen to have the camera ready and this was his first expression when the trout hit! Archie you were a great student and fun to be out with,
keep up the great sense of humor and great out look in life, who knows you might be President some day! OK, OK, of some company.....
Way to go Conrad! Conrad's first fish Ladies and Gentlemen. He doesn't look very happy, he looks ecstatic! He caught all his trout on Stimulator dry flys size 12. look forward to guiding you next year Conrad.
John has really become an advanced fly fishermen. He can double haul the fly line, shoot line no problem accuratley up to 30 feet and seem to be in his element the entire trip. This kid really enjoys the outdoors, nature and friends, (Tory and I really respect
that big time dude!) John your a great fly fisherman and host to your friends. see you guys next year and good luck in all your soccer matches.**WE'll FOLKS HOPE YOU LIKED THAT CLASSIC ADVENTURE ON THE MCCLOUD RIVER, STAY TUNED FOR HIGH MOUNTAIN LAKES
