Tuesday, November 20th, 2001 Last Days Guiding on the McCloud
One of the things I enjoy most about guiding folks is the places it takes me, Shasta seen here couldn't agree more. I love all the moss
covered rocks and black oaks that practically applaud our every catch as they absorb the mountain dew that feeds their growth. The
fishing year has been awesome, many new anglers have come into the sport and realized how wonderful the great outdoors can be, it's in all of us, it's our roots. To all of you, I thank you and look forward to seeing you next year. To the McCloud, Sacramento, Klamath, Pit, Hat Creek & Fall Rivers, I honor
your beauty and what you stand for. You replenish our eco systems and all along your paths are benefitted immensely. I hope that future generations realize that everything starts and revolves around you. God Bless our rivers, Jack Trout
The last days of November were good inspite of being a low water year. I've found when we get heavy Winters and the flows in Spring are high the Fall fishing is usually spectacular. The past two years the Winters have been pretty weak so the low water has made the Spring fishing better than the Fall and this will continue until we have a heavy Winter. ( I hope the "SKY PILOT" hears me up there! We need a big Winter!!!!!!)
The Elephant Ears have witness all my guide trips this year and die only to be reborn next season to join me and many other anglers who revisit our local rivers. They are my friends and help me along the river. Many times I have slipped closed to the bank and a Elephant Ear stock has saved me from falling in to swim with the trout. So many of my customers cherish these plants, and their distinctive beauty. To the Elephant Ears of Siskiyou County Sizzle on!!
John here running down the river with this trout on, doesn't have time to grab an Elephant Ear. He just hopes he can keep the trout
on his fly and he doesn't slip and fall! The fight was good and all
seems well. In the river as well as the forest, yes, all is well.
Nice trout John! What could be better on the last day of the season than to spend it on the my home river! Shasta and I agree, theres not a prettier river in the world. The McCloud River is one of a kind. To the trout of the McCloud River thank you for all the joy you bring to people.
November 15th, 2001 A flowing river is like life itself, with all it's bends and curves, and yet when we look from above we see that it has a definite course. But when your in it there's so much uncertainty. You look and try to feel your way, but the rocks are slippery. you never know what's behind the next bend, yet that's what brings us back. Wading a river is similar to wading through life, it's better when you go with flow. A river is constant, so is our lives and for that I dedicate my life to all the rivers that are so dear to my existence. Take Care People, Jack Trout *
Were heading to the Klamath until I leave for Patagonia, Chile January 14th through April 2002 call me for details.
