Wednesday, September 11th, 2002 **GOD BLESS AMERICA!** Storer Tour Group 2002:
What a great day it was when the Storer Tour Group from the San Joaquin Valley, visited the Mt Shasta area! We headed up the Sacramento River Canyon and passed by Castle Crags, where Joaquin Miller cornered a band of Trinity River Indians in a Battle that was the last one in California where the Indians used bows and arrows to defend themselves. The Trinity Indians had raided a resort cabin called, "Lost Cabin Mine." Miller was struck in the mouth with an arrow that came out by his ear. Never the less, he was happily escorted off the Castle Crags by a nice Wintu Indian Girl Named Nancy. She saved his life and for that he then lived with the Wintu Indians out in Squaw Valley near McCloud. He later married a Wintu Squaw and had a daughter and named her Cali-Shasta.
River Center in Dunsmuir 530-235-2012:
We then headed to the River Center in Dunsmuir to view a wonderful slide show by Vince Cloward related to the eco habitat and the effects and after-effects on the Upper Sacramento River chemical spill by our local railroad in 1991. The River Center was born out of this occurence and continues to offer education to locals, RAILROAD and kids in the classroom. They have an annual clean-up on the Upper Sacramento River September 21st, includes a free BBQ at Dunsmuir City Park afterwards, Call 530-235-2012 to help or give a donation. Tell'em Trout sent you!!!!!!!!!!!
McCloud Soda Shoppe:
We then took the Storer Tour Group to the historic town of McCloud to go by the McCloud Soda Shoppe, get an ice cream and act like a local for an hour. We also toured the Sugar Pine Candy Store and the McCloud Mercantile. This group really must of loved McCloud cause they left a few dollars there! ( all the businesses in McCloud want to know when your coming back, they love you!!!) We also ejoyed immensely the McCloud Museum, thanks McCloud you're always a great community!!!
Jack trout Diving into lower falls:
We then left McCloud to have a great lunch at Lower Falls! I dove into the Falls and got a little shock, the water was 48 degrees!!! I was so cold afterwards I could hardly breath, not very good form either!! I would like to thank Storer Tours and look forward to touring you next year! Jack Trout
Middle Falls Shasta and Bob:
Hey everyone meet Bob Cadematori also from the San Joaquin Valley! We set out for a two day fly fishing adventure on the McCloud and Lower Sacramento rivers and what an adventure we had! we caught fish everywhere we went.

Nice colors on this lovely McCloud River Rainbow, Bob sure enjoyed catching this spunky monkey, and looks forward to coming back someday to our area, oh yea in November he's coming back again!!!! What this trout lack in size, it made up in beauty and strength.
Bob on the Lower Sac:
Bob seen here getting horsed around like a rag doll by a Lower Sacramento ripper. These trout are bionic like Steve Austin and very hard to get into the boat. Thats OK we let'em go anyway!
Bob on the Lower Sac with a lunker:
Bob nice trout! That wasn't easy to get in folks my highest marks to Bob on this one. Take care Bob, see you in November for some Northern California Steelhead. Last but not least Joaquin Miller's real name was Cincinatus Hiner Miller, no wonder he changed his name.** WELL FOLKS HOPE YOU ENJOYED THAT STORY, ON THIS SPECIAL AMERICAN/WORLD DAY, TO ALL YOU TERRORIST OUT THERE, KISS MY ASS WERE MORE UNITED THAN EVER SO YOU BETTER LOOK OUT!!!!!
