Look at this wonderful Scottish Broom sunning itself on the Upper Sac. The river is really dropping now and the raft trips are over. Thats alright, the Upper Sac has been fishing excellent as of late, and the fish counts seem to be doing better every year! Great views and awesome fly fishing, what more can a person desire besides sharing it with others that enjoy it too! Prolific Grey Drake hatches occurring daily after 6:30pm, size 12. Jack Trout

Got an opportunity to fly down to the annual Cal Trout auction dinner with famed author and outdoor editor Tom Stienstra of the San Francisco Chronical. He flies all over not only to be able to get to places quickly, but also to get aerial views of the camp site or destination spot he will soon write about. He's a facinating man with a novel of true knowledge and wisdom regarding the outdoors of California, matched with a character like personality. He wears a Grizzly Bear Claw thats over 6"'s long as a necklace aroud his chest he found inside a human skull in Alaska. He's my kind of hero, a real outdoor writer that flys over his locations he plans to write about. but the most impressive part about Tom Stienstra is, this writer can fly fish!!! The views we had around the Shasta area were amazing and I thought I'd share it with you. Enjoy..........

Were flying over Castle Crags now, this grey volcanic granite formation is much older than even Mt Shasta. Many tourist stay at the Railroad Park Inn off I5. They have the best views of Castle Crags and you can sleep in a comfortable remodled historic box car, or maybe it's a caboose you fancy to take your rest in?

Here's Mt Eddy a dormant volcano standing proud at 9025 feet. Many of my friends in the winter time hike up this outdoor paradise to catch a flight down its many trails by snow board and witness the west view of Mt Shasta in all its glory. You can see where Wagon Creek starts right from the top of Mt Eddy flowing eventually into Siskiyou Lake. Wow what a great adventure, flying around the Mt Shast area.

Now this is a nice pic! Steve Pagones with a lunker on around Lower Falls area of the Upper McCloud. I first guided this guy 5 or 6 years ago as a beginner, he and his brother Mike as well as his father Dennis have come a long way from our first trip out and now they enjoy their annual father/son outting to the Mt Shasta area.

After we caught a bunch of trout and let them all go, we headed for Lower Falls to do some jumps off the stump! Steve did some flips and I did some jack knives. Lower Falls on the McCloud is a happening spot! Judge's score 10's on that flip! Steve your my Sizzler of the week! congrats!!!!!!!!!!! JT

**WE'LL I SURE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS STORY AS MUCH AS I DID WRITING IT, STAY TUNED NEXT WEEK AS I REPORT ON ALL THE LOCAL RIVERS
AND LAKES** JACK TROUT
