For the fourth year in a "row" I have offered these fly fishing rafting float trips down the Upper Sacramento River. To give my anglers a chance to quote-un-quote, "Do the Captain Kirk and Boldly go where no man has gone before". This is a breath taking trip that finds the fly fisherman way down in the lower reaches of the Sac Canyon. Places we hardly ever see anyone else around because of the long "Navajo Death Marches" by foot. You can fish out of the boat as we drift or we stop a lot and get out to fish another spot where there's no foot prints. I've had some very classic trips this season so far and have seen little or no pressure by anglers on the Upper Sac. I will be floating the river until June 1st, after then it will be unsafe and too low to float. I still have some days available call me to skip work, (I have great excuses if you need help) JT

Wow!!! What a catch Max experienced way down in the La Moine Canyon. This fish took a size 14 Pheasant Tail with no bead head, Max even tied it! There's nothing better than catching a LUNKY on a fly that you tied, especially when it goes 23"'s! This guy, I might ad was a character, very humorous and delightful to be around. Way to go Max your my SIZZLER OF THE WEEK! Shasta's still looking for others as we pose for the picture.

Jim and His son Kevin had a great time this past week, Kevin caught his first, second and third trout ever on a fly rod in this one spot! Kevin was an accomplished caster by the end of the trip and made his father Jim a very Proud Pappa! "Jim your a great father and Kevin is a bright kid with a great outlook on life!" We need to keep making kids like Kevin and his Dad, There a barrel of laughs.

This is why we've been catching so many trout on Pheasant Tail Nymths size 14, This Crawler Mayfly Nymph lurks in the faster currents of the river because he breathes through outside lungs on the abdominal section of his body, and the fastest current carries the most oxygen. This nymph will live under water for two or three years then emerge to the surface and shed his skin, only to re-emerge as a flying Mayfly ready to mate and rekindle the next generation. COOL VERY COOL!

A couple of happy nuts on the river! these guys wouldn't leave the place! I think they wanted to just let it become a Twight Zone episode where everyday we wake up and were still together, still floating, still catching lunkys! I bet Rod Serling never caught a trout like this on a fly rod, not at least without a cigarette in his mouth. The water level is great right now, but we could use some heat to melt more snow for better flows, only GOD knows. Or like my Sainted Father would say, "The Sky Pilot Knows".

Here's Jim with another gorgeous Upper Sac Rainbow. This guy started fishing before the first episode of Howdy Doody and cotton diapers. If any fish get within 5 feet of Jim he catches them, he's just one of those guys that just has an innate sense for fly fishing. Besides being a totally halarious customer with a funny looking smile. I like when the customers entertain me, the laughs go on and on!!!!!**WELL FOLKS WHAT'D YA THINK? STAY TUNED FOR MORE ADVENTURES AS WE RAFT THE MIGHTY UPPER SAC, NEXT WEEK ONCE AGAIN WE'LL BE ON THE ATTACK JACK! JACK TROUT**
