November 16th, 2001 *KLAMATH RIVER RED HOT**
Mr. Buck here has been walking up down this dirt road looking for his girlfriend. He looks a little worried she ran off with his best friend, Don't worry Mr.Buck there's other deer in the forest! This is a Black Tail Deer, I see a lot now down by the river.
Wow what colors on this healthy McCloud River Trout! Mark caught it on an October Caddis imitation, fishing it behind this rock in the background. He did great for his first experience and is now considering a trip with me down to South America this January through April. I love going down to Patagonia cause all the rainbows we catch are from the McCloud River. I might add the McCloud River is closed to all fishing November 15th, these are my end of the year shots from a special place on the McCloud River. Take care Mark nice to fish with you. JT
Pat here caught a nice 18"er on drys, fishing from a top drop approach. Which I don't usually teach because trout face upstream, but as good as Pat can drift a fly from a distance, I shut my mouth and just watch in awe. Pat's a great host and all the folks in your group wanted me to thank you. Pat see you and Bernice in Chile this January!
Guide John Rickard and Glen in action as Glen hooked this enormous trout. I'm glad I was nearby guiding with the magic camera handy! The fish put up a heck of a fight that lasted over 15 minutes. Glen was very happy to land this beast cause many others are lost.
John Rickard picked the right fly to catch this rainbow estimated at 5lbs. Glenn caught two big ones there one at about 19"'s and another over 22"'s both caught on huge October Caddis imitations.
Ernie caught a lunker!, but this one was caught nymphing caddis
not on dry flys. Ernie had a ball with his sons on the river and plans to fish more back in Ketchum Idaho. That's always a great excuse to get out on a river with the boys. Take care Pennells and all others that attended, may the visit of every river bring you eternal happiness!!! JT
