Mac and Shasta Trout are working on bringing in this McCloud River Beauty! Hard fighting wild trout can bring a smile to any young man's face.
I can't think of anything better than to raise a boy or a girl and have them appreciate the great outdoors. What could be more rewarding to a Father than to be out fished by his son or daughter,
I see it all the time!! (haha)
Look at this Awesome Wild Trout, These are the ones that have been introduced through out the world. All the countries in the southern hemisphere have McCloud River Rainbows and there doing quite well.
Mac here has been fishing with me since he was 12, Mac is one of the most accomplished fly fishers I've ever seen for his age. Look for Mac as a future guide for Jack Trout Fly Fishing, I've got to be patient though, he still has to pass his drivers test. Way to go Mac, your the Sizzler of the week!
Doug and I walk down stream to find some new water when I looked over to my left and saw a school of a 1/2 dozen trout. Two looked
big and I changed Doug's rig to a large dry fly on the surface and
a nymph tied on to the bottom about 3 feet below the surface fly.
Doug could also see the trout and became very excited to catch all the trout in this pocket water. Doug did a great job of catching several of these spunky monkeys and was applauded with honors for his great release technique also displayed on this glorious day.
The McCloud River is controlled by the PG&E Dam. Did you know that 2/3 of the McCloud flows are sent over to the Pit River to be ran through 5 dams for electricity. The river use to have 800 cubic feet per second more in flows and the Salmon and Steelhead runs
were terrific, from some of the books I've read and old timer's
I've talked to. Miles here at age 16 represents the next generation
of aware anglers and outdoor lover's that will look after the best interest of the wild trout that inhabit our streams. The future look's so bright for Wild Trout Populations gotta wear shades.
This is the group, accompanied by their Fathers and the guides.
It was great to share wits with all that were involved, and all the kids were so interested in learning. It's so awesome to see kids get out and enjoy nature. That's a tribute to the Parents that teach them all the right things in life! Take care and if you have kids take them out to experience nature, it's where we all started,
it's our roots!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry Shasta Cam is down until we find a new server host that can do video images from a camera over the web. Should be up in a week or so..................Jack Trout
