HERE IN PATAGONIA CHILE AS THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE! MEANWHILE, AARON & MANDY MARTIN IN BELIZE WITH LLOYD GUIDING!!*
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ~ TRINITY RIVER FISHING GREAT STILL, TRY TO MAKE IT UP BEFORE MARCH.

**JUST RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM MY GUIDE ERIC WISEFISH!! :> Jack- Looks like you are having a great time down south. Things up here in snowy Trinity County couldn't be better. With over 1.5 ft of new snow winter steelhead fishing remains good to excellent with quite a few wild steelhead showing in the last two weeks. The cold winter weather has subdued the prolific hatch of anglers the Trinity saw earlier this season but the steelhead are still here (along with some nice browns). Talk Later, Eric .

CALL US FOR WILD STEELHEAD ACTION ON THE TRINIT RIVER!! 530-926-4540 OR EMAIL: info@jacktrout.com

Volcano Lliama:

Arrived Chile and the Volcano Lliama erupted! Though this is an active volcano, it has been a while since it last erupted and there I was! This update isn't going to have a lot of fishing in Chile. We have many folks inquiring on scenic tours also. I think it's important to not be one dimensional and show everything we offer. So here's my best shot to show you what we could do for you that want to fish some, see real Chilean culture and my favorite, local Chilean dishes.

Volcano Lliama2:
An unbelieveable site to witness, what are the chances I would be driving down the road and see this Volcano erupt! I don't think I have ever reached so fast for my camera ever. Volcano Lliama is located about 1 1/2 hours from the city of Temuco, Chile. This is located in the 9th region, 5 hours above Puerto Montt. I had planned to do a story on Parque de Conquillio for you, but because of this eruption, the park is now closed. No one was injured but I heard reports that some Gringos, (me) were asked to leave the park because we were getting too close for photos. (imagine that?)
Volcano Lliama3:
Yea baby, up close and personal! Now it's not hard for me to imagine Mt. Shasta some day erupting. It will happen some day in the future, and all the rivers are the drainages for our Mother Shasta Mountain. Thank you Volcan Lliama, for showing us a truly amazing event!! Now Volcan Lliama is the most active volcano in South America.
Eric Wisefish Trin:
Back home on the Trinity River in Northen California, guide Eric Wisefish, is getting our customers, Jeff Calder and his group into some great steelhead on a sunny winter day! (Guide Aaron Grabiel also there, guiding up a storm.)

As far as guides go, Eric Wisefish is one knowledgeable cool cat. Did you know that Eric grew up with Sean Malee, on the banks of the Trinity River in Junction City. Sean Malee is a well known doctor in Mt Shasta, who owns a prime spot on the Trinty River! Eric and Sean, two great folks from Northern Cal. Way to Eric!

Trinity Jan 2008:
Nice steelhead Jeff Calder! A lot of the trout now are being caught on eggs and very small nymphs.
Trinity Jan 2008Caldwell:
Now that's a lunker in any country!
Trinity Jan 2008 Vail:
Tad Vail enjoyed his day on the Trinity River with his son and plans to return this spring. I hope to get he and his son on my raft on the Upper Sac for high adventures and fly fishing!
Trinity Jan 2008 Vail2:
Nice fish Parker Vail! That makes life great when you have that kind of success fly fishing.
Trinity Jan 2008 Steve D:
How nice it is to see Steve Dorfman out fly fishing again! This is one of the nicest guys you could ever know. Right on Steve! catch a lunker...
Trinity Jan 2008 Steve D2:
Nothing but net!
Trinity Steve Dorfman:
I like those racing colors! Hope to see you out in my raft in the spring.
Trinity Glivingood2:
Greg had a great day the first day!
Trinity Glivingood24:
But the second day, he went off and caught over 8 steelhead! GREG LIVINGOOD, YOU ARE UNDOUBTEDLY MY SIZZLER OF THE WEEK AWARD WINNER!!

CONGRATULATIONS SIZZLER GREG LIVINGOOD!

Hibbard trinity 2008:
Beer Break!
Chris Welch trinity 2008:
Chris Welch and Guide Aaron Grabiel. Thanks again Chris for all the guide trips over the years! Look forward to spring on the Upper Sac out in the fly fishing raft!
Chris Welch Group 2008:
Steve have a great 2008 man! Jack Trout
Juan Ramos Santiago Tour:
Jack Trout International is now offering guided tours in Santiago & Vina Del Mar. We can also tour you through the Casa Blanca, Conchaqua & Maipo wine regions.

Greg & Alison Takata are looking forward to their tour in Santiago in early March and so are we! We are proud of the tours we have set up over a number of years working together. Juan Ramos is now retired from the police force and is so relaxed he reminds me of Garfield the Cat. Juan Ramos, I am so glad you have retired. You deserve it man! Nice new ride too!! jt

Casa Blanca:
Casa Blanca wine region is one of the places we offer on the way to Vina Del Mar Beach!
Casa Blanca Veramonte:
Veramonte Winery is a great place to tour.
Valle de Casa Blanca:
We have the in at many regions in Chile, give us a shout when you're ready to come down.
Vina Del Mar 2008:
Finally the beach at Vina Del Mar! The weather was perfect, I suggest January or February in Chile for best beach weather! Best fishing is late February and March this year! Right now it's too hot!
Vina Del Mar wave time:
Catch a wave!
Cazuela de Ave:
I love Cazuela De Ave! Chicken soup with a few bonuses.
enjoy the beach scene:
The vibe is so sweet here and folks from all over just chill'n.
Even Homer was enjoying!:
Even Homer is here, sick with relaxation. Bart's tearing it up on the beach checking out all the fine chicks!
Ice cream break!:
I might need help with this!
cool araucaria:
What a cool tree!
Canal Vina:
So many great shots to take walking around.
Centro Plaza Vina:
Central Plaza looking great as usual.
Centro Plaza horse bath:
That's right, wash that under-nourished horse. I had a great time in Vina Del Mar. Now it's time to start heading south to visit my Chilean Mother Monica, who makes me authentic Chilean dishes, just to show off a little!
Marco & Monica:
Marco and Mom, having fun as we eat Pastel De Choclo.
Pastel de Choclo 2008:
This dish is made with blended corn that is made into pastel liquid then baked. Beef is mixed slightly with onions and a few hard boiled eggs and olives underneath to make this one of my favorite all-time Chilean dishes!
Mote de Huesillo:
This is Mote de Huesillo, a Mapuche favorite found all over Chile. Peaches and peach juice with rice crispies, make this a great dessert and healthy.
Bee Gees the Cat!:
This cat was sick and coughing, living nearby, so I took it to the vet and got it vaccinated. Monica kept it and named it Bee Gees after her favorite music group.....Disco Monica..?
Lliama the next day!2:
I took a drive back out to see Volcan Lliama and I could tell a lot of snow had melted from the previous eruption.
Curacatin:
I looked over towards the town of Curacatin and saw to other volcanos obviously much older and seemly dormant, not as active as Volcan Lliama. Did you know Chile has 2006 volcanos?
steep bra!:
I then headed to Saltos de Indio. (Indian Waterfalls).
Indio 2008:
What a plunge of water through a very narrow spout. Now that's a force by nature!
Indio 2008v2:
Chile has so much water and natural beauty! This country must not dam its rivers for hydro-electric power for other countries like Argentina, Brazil & Venezuela. Let them figure out their power problems for themselves. To exploit such amazing natural resources is a crime in history and it must be stopped now! !PATAGONIA SIN REPRESAS! Once you go there you can never go back and these rivers are unique in the world!! Chile hear me, you have so many other ways to make money, look at the great accomplishments you have made in copper trade with the USA and China. You are # 1 in the world in pen-raised salmon export. Your wine sales are through the roof, as well as your summer export of fruit abroad. I have seen such economic growth in the 16 years I have been traveling and outfitting your wonderful country paradise. You are going to sell yourself short in the long run!! Chile is about recreation and natural resources, not computers, playstaion 2 & like every other North American country! Don't you want to stay unique? I know you are a net export country now, the richest in South America. You must keep your tradition & customs and not become like our greedy Gringo country. Some things must remain sacred and always flowing.

Con respecto en mi cortazon, Mi vida cambio porque mi experiencias en Chile!

!Chi-Chi-Chi - Le-Le-le - Viva - Chile y Los Rios siempre fluyen! Jack Trucha.

Rio Curacatin & Jack:
I caught over 20 trout right here. Hi everyone back at the ranch!
Rio Curacatin2:
It's hard to get fishing pictures when you're out on your own, but this update wasn't going to be about that anyway. The next update is all about fly fishing, customers were guiding and more unique photos and scenes, I think you'll love to see!!
Rio Curacatin25:
Fun places await you someday. I hope to guide you here in 2009 with Nico.
Rio Curacatin pasarella:
The bridge that leads to a great resort. This area has places to stay everywhere.
Araucaria up high2:
Since Parque de Conguillio was closed, I then thought it would be fun to take a drive up high and check out places very near Argentina. As my altitude rose. I started seeing Araucaria Trees. They seemed so prehistoric and dinosaursous looking!

(Trout- That's not a word!)

Longimay Road:
This dirt road stretches over a mountain pass that makes Tahoe seem flat.
Volcan Longimay:
As I looked over I could see the Volcan Longimay.
Pueblo de Longimay:
I finally made it over the mountains and I could see off in the distance, the little town of Longimay. We're talking remote people! BFE.....
Pueblo de Longimay2:
What a beautiful place!
Longimay Mapuche Ninos:
I don't think too many Gringos make it here man! Everyone was happy to see me and not concerned with who wins the Presidency. In other areas of Chile, that is not the case..... Our US Dollar is at an all-time low and I mean all-time low. For years it was around 550 to 750 pesos, to the dollar. Now barely breathing at 450 pesos, things are very expensive compared to the past.... Like 40% higher, that takes into account inflation also of course.... No comment!
Upper Bio Bio:
I fished the Upper Bio Bio and did great!
Mapuche en lo campo:
This Mapuche was loading up for the winter. I imagine it is very harsh, to say the least.
Casa de Mapuche:
Mapuche casa with two trees growing out of the roof!
Mapuche new construction:
Mapuche new construction.
Araucaria beauty:
What a beauty!
More river:
On my way back to Temuco, I stopped and fished this spot and caught a few browns and rainbows.
Pucon 2008:
The next day I headed for Pucon, one of favorite areas in Chile to party and hang.
Volcan Villarrica:
There Volcan Villarrica rules from up high still smoking and waiting for it's day to arrive again.
Ralf & Pops Reiter:
Ralf and his father from Austria were out for some great dining at the El Bosque Restaurant (The forest restaurant) in Pucon. Our friend Scott originally from Deluth, Minnesota owns this fine establishment. Back home, Ralf owns a paragliding business. He offers tandems and all instruction. Check him out at http://www.aufwind.at or call him just outside of Salzberg, Austria at: 43 (0) 664-532-6003 or email: office@aufwind.at . I remember fond memories of great fly fishing on the Rio Traun when I was in Austria. He also offers fly fishing and can take you to some great rivers when you are in Austria! Ralf, nice to meet you and your father, I be will traveling through Austria in 2009 and plan to go out fly fishing with you!
El Bosque Sushi:
Sushi at the El Bosque in Pucon is awesome!
Babes everywhere!:
Pucon is fun town ruled by women! This town for some reason attracts girls by the hundreds. Maybe it's the beaches, the recreation or something in the water. But girls are here in pairs and by the hundreds!

(listen up single guys, this is the place you should of have been born! It's not too late to be re-born!!)

Chile's finest:
I think this has to be Chile's finest pair and so sweet to talk to on top of it! :) I like Chilean girls with jet black hair and a smile that genuinely says; "Hello!"
Rocco Mama's & Tappa's Pub:
My friend for over 10 years, Rocco, always smiling as he serves you another beer at the Mama's and Tappa's pub!
two babes from Argentina:
Argentina babes represented!
two babes from Argentina2:
Ok, girls lets go outside where I get a more professional shot!
Argentina represented!:
A group of fun girls from Argentina always makes any party! anyone for another Mojito on the rocks!
Ah party time!:
Then inside this group knew about my adventures on mtshasta.com! Maybe that's why I didn't pay for a drink or food the entire evening! I LOVE YOU MAN, THANKS FOR WATCHING MY ADVENTURES FROM WHAT EVER COUNTRY YOU LIVE IN!!! JACK TROUT
Villarrica smoking a J:
Villarrica lurking off the distance smoking out, as vacationers climb its peak in about 3 1/2 hours.(I NEVER INHALED!)

Michael Fay - Ted Fay's son.

Sounds good on the Trinity River. For sure the night of the 11th, possibly the night of the 10th. Fishing 12th for sure, 11th possibly. One person only on the 11th if I go, two on the 12th. Eric Bald is second guy...

JT, It's dumping 2-3" an hour and it looks like we are snow bound for today. I will get out hopefully tomorrow. Belize sounds great! I look forward to going back to Pucon someday. take care, matty hill
Jack,

Parker and I had a great time. Here are some pictures.

Best regards,

Tad Vail

PS. Give me another suggestion. We want to get to know the Northern California fishing options.

Jack-----------could you send me info on the April trip to Belize, I lost your email--thanks, johnny watts

That makes sense. I'll really try to find someone to go with me to Belize! It sounds good. Ron Beck

Dear Jack Trout

Many thanks for your message - I will contact you when we have arranged dates and flights.

We want to see some other parts of Chile we missed last time, such as the wine area and the Atacama and finish with fishing for five days.

And we do wish to fish a different part each day, following in Hemingway's footsteps on the Maullin, and the other rivers you suggest. Float and fish is great for us as we are the wrong side of 60 and 70 respectively, and Robin is passionate about plants - we have here in our garden here in Scotland lots of Chilean plants, e.g. embothrium, mitreria, eucryphia, crinodendron, abutilon -we have quite a similar climate to the Chilean Lake District. He loved floating down the river plant-spotting! Sadly our Spanish is absolutely hopeless, so we need an English speaking guide if possible

I think we went with Mario last time to the Trancura, certainly the outfit was based in Pucon, and our guide was Catcho (!) and - can't remember the name of the other guide, they were both tremendous - but we booked it through Abercrombie and Kent and think they charged a huge commission, so that is why I am contacting you direct this time.

Will be in touch. Enclosed a couple of pics of our 06 adventure.

All the best, Mary Nichols from Scotland

Dear Jack -- Great email. Thanks for the kind words. And I'm glad that The Suspect could withstand a second read. I do hope to do more fishing with you in the coming months, so let's stay in touch. And thanks, also, for the plug on your webpage. Cool.

Best, John Lescroart

Wow, Jack! What amazing photos. Reading about your adventures always fills me with a impatient dose of wanderlust. Glad you are well, and I love the title of your book! "The Kingdom of Trout." Can't wait to read it! Love, Tracy
Jaaaaack! You are so lucky to see the sights you see. I was just on your site, then went to my mail and there you were. See you this summer. The boys are planning a trip to Redding to record at my friends studio come spring or so. Maybe we could look you up and play somewhere up your way. Let me know of a good venue and I will try to book us. Take care,

'Robert Mills

Dam!!! Jack!!! Chile looks like it is very special with Sushi and pretty girls.....I am JEALOUS!!!! Be safe, Michael Young Caribbean Property Consultants, Belize
Jack,

I think you should give me your itinerary to be there. I think to leave at 15:00 to be in Santa Lucia close to 16:30.

That's what I need you to check. If you can be there earlier would be great, to spend the night at Puyuhuapi and go to the Hot Springs at night looking at the fjord!!! What do you think?

Let me know the time that you leaves Chaiten and I'll be there!

Waiting your reply
