Thursday, July 24th, 2003 **FALL STEELHEAD SIGN-UPS!** Lightning hitting Mt Shasta July 23rd 2003: All packed ready to head up the Pacific Crest Trail on my day off to camp overnight at Dead Fall Lakes and get out of all this heat when out of nowhere I heard big thunder! Boomers and bangers, I mean the meanest thing you've ever heard in your life! Coming from both sides of the south Mt Shasta valley from the Eddies in the west to the top of Mt Shasta a storm was being brewed and we were in the middle of it. The temps went from 95 degrees to low 70's within a 1/2 hour and then the rain poured like an early Spring storm but it was July 23rd? Lightning was hitting big time right behind my house and I could see off in the distance that lightning was also hitting Mt Shasta. I decided to leave my SF Giants game and drive out to Summit Drive to get some pics. I took 15 pictures to finally get this one! Needless to say I'm waiting to see what the weather is gonna do before I go camping up in the Eddies! jt Jeff and Chandler Ramirez: Jeff and Chandler Ramirez at Middle Falls on the McCloud river, this was to be the first time either one has tried fly fishing. Both agreed the waterfalls were one of the most beautiful places they'd ever seen. Chandler Ramirez: Chan the Man Ramirez fighting his first trout! If desire is any key to success, this kid was 7 years old and within a matter of a 20 minutes was casting, high sticking, drifting and catching! He and his father Jeff were really great people to teach and spend time with out on the water. Chan the man!!: Chan the Man! This kid has a future and a great attitude. He never got bored and acted better than some fully matured grown adults I've guided. With great honor, Chandler Ramirez, I crown you as SIZZLER of the WEEK AWARD WINNER! Keep that enthusiasm for life you'll go far!! jt Cantara Loop late 1800's: Cantara Loop in the late 1800's with a steam engine running up the Sacramento Canyon. Thimble Berries on the Upper Mccloud: My favorite berry is the berry that comes available in July, the Thimble Berry. It's like a velvet raspberry and strawberry in one berry. You have to beat the squirrels to them but it's worth it! Wonderment: Wonderful life, Being with Pops! Chan the Man and Shasta!: Chandler and Shasta were like two peas in a pod, I think they're buddies for life. Cat nap at middle falls: After Chan caught 4 or 5 trout he yawned once and said the sound of the falls made him a little sleepy. Shasta and Chan had a little cap nap as Dad fished under the falls. Tiger Lillies Middle Falls July 2003: Wild flowers are a Siskiyou County specialty, come out and experience our neck of the woods.jt High Mountain Lakes 2003: July 22nd Shasta and I were really hot so we decided to go for a hike up in the Toad Lake Basin. We were on the Pacific Crest Trail when we stopped for a rest on this ridge above Toad Lake. Dr Bill White Mt Shasta: Dr. Bill White of Mt Shasta hooking up on dry flies!**NEXT WEEK MORE FALLS, RIVERS AND MOUNTAIN LAKES** MANY VISTAS TO YOU JACK TROUT
