October 10th, 2002 **Fall Colors are Here!** 4th graders at Castle Lake learning to fish: With the passing of another season comes another opportunity to teach the Sisson Elementary 4th graders a little fly tying-fly fishing lesson, and like always we had a lot of fun together! I'd like to thank Debbie Derby for setting it all up, it's our 8th year of educating Mt Shasta Youths. In addition to my station they had set up 5 others ranging from aquatic insects to Mapping of our region. The US Forest service always participates and even sent an expert aquatic entomology biologist from Redding for this event! "Had a great time with all you kids, spend more time in the outdoors, not in your house on the TV or computer." See you next year! JT 4th grader learning to fly fish: It's a great thing turning on our youths to outdoor things, This youngster took right to fly fishing and even went twice just to get more practice. I'd also like to thank Mrs. Hardy and her years of dedicated service to local school kids, she's a great example of what makes Mt Shasta schooling the best on the planet!!!!!! Peter Nevon Fly fishing the Klamath River: Lets change the tempo and head over to the Klamath River, where the Steelhead and Trout are actively feeding on Salmon Eggs and Stoneflys. Pete caught this nice Steelhead that put up a great fight. Hope to see you this Fall and Winter the fishing will be hot!! Joe and his healthy steelhead: Way to go Joe! I love seeing my folks catch some of these healthy cromer steelhead. I like Joes technique for holding his rod while he takes a picture. Joe your my "Sizzler of the Week" Birthday boy on the Klamath: Tory Shannon with a nice 1/2 lber on his 35th birthday! He had a marvelous birthday with as many catches as his age. Did I also mention he's my head guide and looks forward to seeing you hook a few when you out with Tory on a guide trip. Give us a call for Fall and Winter fly fishing there's none better in our region than Jack Trout Guide Service. Three Friends Out Fly Fishing: Three friends out fly fishing catching trout and steelhead what could be better on a nice Fall day! Thanks to Marty for setting all this up. Take care and hope to see you again soon. JT Klamath fish and game: On the Klamath River you will be most likely be checked for what you've kept by the local DFG officers. No wild trout or Wild Steelhead can be taken form the Klamath River. Your allowed one hatchery trout and one hatchery steelhead. How could you tell you ask? Hatchery trout and steelhead have their Adipose fin clipped. Thats the fin behind the dorsal fin, don't be a loser know your fishing regulations it's your responsibility to the fisheries. I never have a problem cause we don't keep anything, we just fly fish for the sport! Just for the halibut! Oct fishing on the McCloud River: October fly fishing on the McCloud River is always dependable with a smorgasbord of insects hatching mid day. Look for PMD Mayflys in Cream, Pink and Grey. Use Lt Cahill, Pink Cahill and Adams size 14 or 16. Humpies also work from size 18 to 14 Good luck! JT Prehistoric Klamath: Look at this Prehistoric looking bird perched on top of this huge cliff above the Klamath River. This is the Great Blue Heron a bird that is very common on the Klamath River in Northern California. **TAKE CARE FOLKS, SEE YOU NEXT STORY THANKS FOR ALL THE EMAILS JACK TROUT**
